North Shore Tyke 1 Undefeated in PoCo Tournament!
May 9, 2010, 8:58 pm

It was a thrilling two days as the North Shore Ninjas went undefeated in Port Coquitlam's May Day tournament this past weekend.

North Shore Ninjas

The boys played three games - two on Saturday and one on Sunday - that were nail biters from start to finish.  On Saturday morning, the team faced stiff competition against their PoCo counterparts. And in their two afternoon outings (one each day) the boys came from behind to win and tie their games, respectively.

Our congratulations go out to this Tyke team for their showing against associations that they don't often face during league play.

The Ninjas would like to send a special thanks to Jake Oseen for joining us in two games, and to all the players who made the trek to PoCo both days.

Well done boys!!!!

Former NLL Star Randy Daly Guest Coach for North Shore Minor Lacrosse
Apr 8, 2010, 2:55 pm

Novice A

How lucky were the Novice A team on Tuesday, April 6?  They were so lucky that former National Lacrosse League (NLL) star and power forward Randy Daly stopped in as a guest coachHe ran a 90 minute practice and took the kids through some great drills and showed them some of his secrets to his success.

Randy Daly has been playing lacrosse for 25 years including two years with our North Shore intermediates back in the late 1990s.  He was drafted into the NLL by the Vancouver Ravens and took home rookie of the year honours in 2004.  In 2007 while playing for the Edmonton Rush, he averaged over 3 points per game during the regular season.  Randy has played for Vancouver, Colorado and Edmonton in the NLL and is currently playing for Ridge Meadows in the WLA.  Earlier this year he was named the most valuable forward by the Maple Ridge Burrards of the Western Lacrosse Association.

The Novice A team plays their first away exhibition game on Saturday, April 10 against Burnaby.

BOX LACROSSE REGISTRATION (Up to and Including the 1994 Birthyear) Register Now Road Sign

Hard to believe that its time to register players for the 2010 Box Lacrosse season. Online Registration for box lacrosse is now open, and we would like to have the majority of players registered by the first week of February so that we can determine the number of teams in each age division.  Please note that if we do have "odd" numbers in some divisions (i.e. insufficient number of players for complete teams) it may be necessary to put players on a waiting list, so please make sure you register as soon as possible once registration opens.  Like last year, 2010 registration will be done online via our website (northshoreminorlacrosse.com).  An email will be sent outlining whats upcoming for the 2010 season (rates, evaluation times, Division Coordinator contact info etc.), how to registrar, and for those that have registered online before, you will receive an email containing your username as password.

For all those who registered a box player online previously, you should not have to re-enter your contact info, but you should check the information confirm that it is accurate (especially email and phone numbers) as most of our updates and contact is done via email (and phone for those who do not have regular access to email).  For those visiting our webisite you will find that it has now been moved to a new provider and we anticipate that information concerning registration, teams, tournaments etc will be much more current than in the past.

BOX LACROSSE REGISTRATION (1993 Birthyear and above)

For those players with 1993 Birth years and above, the next organized lacrosse level is Intermediate, we are told that the North Shore will be fielding one Intermediate "B" Box Lacrosse team. Please note that the Intermediate Box Lacrosse Team is not under the jurisdiction of the North Shore Minor Lacrosse Association and players must register with the Intermediate Box Team itself.  We will be providing contact info for this team in our registration email and on the northshoreminorlacrosse.com website.  Given the large number of players migrating out of the 1993 age group it is expected that their will be a high demand for a limited number of spaces at the Intermediate Level so if you have a player who is interested you should contact the the Intermediate team sooner than later.

BC SUMMER GAMES (Field & Box Lacrosse)

This year the BC Summer games will be held in Langley, B.C. on July 22 - 25, 2010.  The North Shore is part of Zone 5, which consists of the following regions: Sunshine Coast, Squamish, North & West Vancouver and Vancouver. This year the eligible birth years are as follows:

Box Lacrosse: Midget Age (1994-95 Birth years)

Field Lacrosse: U14 Age (1995-96 Birth Years)

For those players who are around at that time of the year it is a good and generally fun experience.  We will be providing more information on the Games and sign up procedure as the season progresses.  At the current time we are looking for anyone who maybe interested in coaching the Field Lacrosse Team.  If  you are interested please contact me at 604-929-0489 or rogerpaterson@telus.net.

In closing, I would like to thank Richard Downey for stepping up to take over the Registrar's position for 2010.  We will be providing contact information for this and other positions in our next email.

Best Regards

Roger
