Thank you for your interest in coaching or assistant coaching in the North Shore Minor Lacrosse Association. Please contact your Divisional Coordinator or the Director of Coach Mgmt. & Dev. who will explain the process of team assignment.

Fair Play Philosophy

The NSMLA follows the C.L.A. Fair Play Philosophy and we remind you of the responsibilities we have to our players, our association, our officials, and our sport. Our objective is to develop lacrosse players in a safe and fun environment. This means equal play for all teams. Abusive and/or inappropriate behavior, towards players or officials is not be tolerated.

Online Criminal Record Check

All coaches, assistant coaches and other bench personnel are required to complete an online criminal record check each season.  Proof of identity is also required.

An access code is required for the criminal record check, and can be requested from president@northshoreminorlacrosse.com.

Coaching Clinics

The cost of coaching clinics is covered by the NSMLA. Simply submit your receipt once you have been received your coaching certification (standard practice in minor sports ) and a cheque will be mailed to you. Pre-payment exceptions may be made for older players registered in NSMLA that wish to give back to the league and take on the responsibility of coaching.  If you have any questions, please contact headcoach@northshoreminorlacrosse.com.

NCCP (National Coaching Certificate Program)

Now that you have attended your clinic it is time to completed your online workbook. You will need your access code that you received at your clinic to log on to the NCCP website.

Door Personnel

The role of ‘Door Person’ has been revised . Moving forward, anyone operating the gates must be certified (Community Development – Level 1) or a dressed player on the bench.

For Mini-Tyke – Peewee level, all bench personnel must be Trained at the Box Community Development – Level 1 (level 1 does not have an in-training status).

For Bantam – Senior levels, all coaches (Head or Assistant) must be Trained or in the process of Training (signed up for an upcoming course or completed a course during the current season) at Box Competitive Introduction – Level 2 . All door personnel who are non-coaches must be certified Community Development – Level 1 (or a dressed player on the bench).

Concussion Information:

While  concussions are not that common in lacrosse, coaches, parents and  players should be aware of concussion prevention, symptoms and  treatment.  Below are links which provide good information on  concussions:

Travel Permits

For out of country travel only – The BC Lacrosse Association  carries Out-of-Country Medical Insurance in our insurance package for teams whose individuals are all currently registered members (athletes, coaches and team personnel, managers, chaperones and referees) traveling out of country, as long as a travel permit has been submitted with a list of all people traveling, and as long as the travel permit is approved by the BCLA and respective Directorate/League.   The same policies apply – athletes must be currently registered and coaches must be currently registered and properly certified.   If you have any questions, please contact the BCLA Office.  This cost will be absorbed by the BC Lacrosse Association.
